The only thing that temporarily works, is in the device manager right click on the storage device and "uninstall device" then to restart the computer. I've run windows from a clean boot and this didn't solve the problem either.Ħ. I ran Windows Hardware and Device Troubleshooter and it was unable to find anything wrong.ĥ. Update the driver, As far as windows is concerned the most up to date and correct driver is already installed.Ĥ.

However it does show up in the device manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "USB Mass Storage Device" with a little yellow triangle and an !. I've checked the disk management and they don't show up there either. and they work fine, but if I plug in a USB Drive, or a external hard drive they start up (lights flash/hard disk spins) but the computer won't recognize it. I can plug a mouse, keyboard, card reader etc. The USB ports on the computer work with everything except storage devices. I've got a problem with a computer that I can't seem to figure out.
